Basketball Game Preview: Springdale Prep Lions vs. DeMatha Stags

Two dominant guards in Kisean Robinson and Ashton (Ace) Meeks are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Having just played yesterday, the Springdale Prep Lions will head out on the road to face off against the DeMatha Stags at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Springdale Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.

Springdale Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Clinton Grace Christian, who was ranked 15th at the time (Springdale Prep was ranked 16th). Springdale Prep fell to Clinton Grace Christian 61-55. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, DeMatha came up short against Paul VI on Tuesday and fell 61-48. The Stags haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Springdale Prep will need focus on slowing down Charles Thomas, one of several DeMatha players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Thomas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamaal McKnight Jr., who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

DeMatha's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Springdale Prep, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-5.
