Recap: Higley Knights vs. Apollo Hawks
With a playoff game on the line, the Higley Knights rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Hawks 78-14 at home. The result was nothing new for Higley, who have now won seven matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Higley was led to victory by Gunner Fagrell and Daxen Hall. Fagrell threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.8 yards per attempt, while Hall gained 188 total yards and six touchdowns. Hall was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Apollo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adam Mohammed. Despite the final result, he picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 100 yards. Mohammed hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
The win (which was Higley's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Apollo, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.
Higley will stay at home for another week and welcome Desert Edge at 8:00 p.m. on December 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Desert Edge is ranked ninth, while Higley is ranked tenth). Apollo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
