Basketball Recap: Fayetteville Takes a Loss

Fayetteville lost against Richland back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fayetteville Tigers received a blow as they fell 67-52 to the Richland Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Raiders are ranked 47th).

Leading Richland to victory were Shelby Higgins and Bailey Blair. Higgins went 11-for-16 to rack up 26 points and seven rebounds, while Blair shot 50% from the field on her way to 17 points and six assists. What's more, Higgins also posted a 69% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Bass, who posted five points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Fayetteville's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Richland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.

Fayetteville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Richland has already played their next game (against Moore County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
