Basketball Game Preview: Camden County Bruins vs. Currituck County Knights

Camden County is 2-8 against Currituck County since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Camden County Bruins will head out to take on the Currituck County Knights at 6:00 p.m.

Camden County is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Holmes last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Camden County lost 50-28 to Holmes. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Defeat or not, Camden County got some senior leadership from Aaliyah Anderson and Rylee Rios. Anderson posted eight points and five boards, while Rios put up six points. The dominant performance gave Rios a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Currituck County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Holmes last Saturday, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Aces are ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Currituck County found their leader in sophomore Arianna White, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Currituck County's points. Savannah Banks was another key player, putting up seven points.

Currituck County pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Camden County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Things could have been worse for Camden County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to Currituck County when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of White, who dropped a triple-double on 30 points, ten boards, and 11 steals. Now that Camden County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
