Softball Game Preview: San Saba Armadillos vs. Goldthwaite Eagles

For the second straight game, San Saba will face off against Goldthwaite. San Saba will venture away from home to face off against Goldthwaite at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: San Saba has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Goldthwaite will arrive with three straight victories.

San Saba might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-1 to Goldthwaite, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

For Goldthwaite's part, Danika Macias made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Macias has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Goldthwaite let Kenley Howard and Brooke Roberts run wild. Howard scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Roberts got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Howard has posted since back in April of 2024. Madi Hall also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Goldthwaite's record now sits at 5-8. As for San Saba, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
