Softball Recap: Cherryville's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Cherryville dropped their record down to 13-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the West Stanly Colts, falling 15-0. The Ironmen were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the six games prior), but the Colts' pitchers proved too tough.

As for West Stanly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For West Stanly's part, Jenna Brock and Laney Tucker did most of the damage at the plate: Brock went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tucker got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Brock has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Austin, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Cherryville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-7 loss against Whiteville on the 22nd. As for West Stanly, they have also already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against North Brunswick on the 22nd.
