Basketball Recap: Blountstown Victorious

Blountstown won the last time they faced Ponce De Leon, and Curtis Ellis did his part to make sure it happened again. The Blountstown Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 win over the Ponce De Leon Pirates on Monday thanks in part to Ellis, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points and six steals. Ellis is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Blountstown's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Ponce De Leon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blountstown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cottondale at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Blountstown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season. As for Ponce De Leon, they will welcome Bozeman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Bozeman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
