Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. Windsor Jaguars

For the second straight game, Cardinal Newman will face off against Windsor. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cardinal Newman 3.5, Windsor 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Cardinal Newman fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Windsor on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 2-1.

For Windsor's part, AJ Rakowski spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. Rakowski has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Windsor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Sanders, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Windsor, bringing their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
