Baseball Recap: King City Mustangs vs. North Salinas Vikings
King City had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-14 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to the North Salinas Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Tuesday.
As for North Salinas, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs.
For North Salinas' part, they let Drew Cervantes and Jake Burkhardt run wild. Cervantes went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Burkhardt went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Cervantes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Avina, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Looking ahead, King City will head out to challenge Watsonville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Salinas, they will take on Lynbrook at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
