Basketball Recap: Santiago Takes a Loss

Santiago's tournament run continued when they took on Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Saturday. The Santiago Cavaliers fell to the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals 58-53.

It was another big night for Jose Padilla, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 33 points for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary. Padilla's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Chavez, who posted 11 points.

Santiago has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santiago will challenge Los Amigos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santiago is facing Los Amigos at the right time seeing as Los Amigos is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they will take on Rio Hondo Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
