Preview: Northside Eagles vs. Marist War Eagles
The Northside Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Marist War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Marist is ranked 20th).
Last Friday, Northside lost to Thomas County Central on the road by a decisive 31-16 margin. Northside was down 24-3 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Northside's loss came about despite a quality game from Jayden Wright, who threw for 66 yards and six touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Marist entered their tilt with Riverwood with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Marist blew past Riverwood, posting a 42-6 win at home. Considering Marist has won four contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Northside's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Marist, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Northside lost to Marist on the road by a decisive 32-13 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Northside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
