Football Recap: Okolona Comes Up Short

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Okolona was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were dealt a 41-6 defeat at the hands of the Shannon Red Raiders. The Chieftains were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Even if they lost, Okolona's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaiden Grady, Kingston Blanchard, and Jaylan Randle, who each picked up one sack apiece. Randle got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Brayden Hooks had an outrageously good game for Shannon as he rushed for 92 yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Deans, who rushed for 63 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Okolona now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Shannon, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Okolona has already played their next match, a 41-19 loss against South Pontotoc on the 19th. As for Shannon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-6 defeat against Noxubee County on the 19th.
