Baseball Recap: Monticello Panthers vs. Goshen Central Gladiators
Monticello extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 8-0 to the Goshen Central Gladiators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gladiators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-1 back in April.
As for Goshen Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
For Goshen Central's part, they let Avery Farrell and F Mitterbauer run wild. Farrell went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Mitterbauer got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Farrell a new career-high. Jack Vaccaro was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Monticello will welcome Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Middie Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Goshen Central, they will face off against Cornwall Central at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
