Softball Recap: Gooding Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Gooding and Wendell have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Senators blew past the Trojans 15-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-3 two weeks ago.

Kaylee Silver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mady Morris was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kodi Garza, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run.

Gooding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gooding pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Wendell, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gooding will square off against Filer at 4:30 p.m. on the 10th. As for Wendell, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Salmon at 1:00 p.m.
