Football Recap: Griffin Sturgeon Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win

The South Dearborn Knights earned a 35-28 win over the Richmond Red Devils on Friday. The Knights pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Devils cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Dearborn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Griffin Sturgeon, who threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (97 yards to be exact) went to Wyatt Adams, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

South Dearborn didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Richmond to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The Knights weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

South Dearborn didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brady Ballart and Colton McClure. Dallas Terrill was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Richmond lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Thomas Stargell, who threw for 176 yards and one TD, and also punched in one score on the ground.

South Dearborn's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

South Dearborn has already played their next contest, a 39-16 win against Greensburg on the 19th. As for Richmond, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 64-6 defeat against Lafayette Jefferson on the 19th.
