Football Game Preview: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Robbinsville Black Knights + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Wilson Prep Tigers and the Robbinsville Black Knights will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wilson Prep comes in on seven and Robbinsville on five.

Wilson Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 52-22 victory over Northside - Pinetown. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Tigers just coasted through the last quarter.

Travon Usher had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 152 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Wilson Prep's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 7-3 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Robbinsville's offense rose to the challenge against a Wildcats defense that boasted an average of only 10.92 points allowed last Friday. The Black Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Davidson 41-7. With the Black Knights ahead 41-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Robbinsville's win came from a few key players Wilson Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Luke Lovin, who threw for 65 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards. What's more, he racked up 156.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Cameron Allison was another key player, rushing for 51 yards and one score.

Wilson Prep's record now sits at 8-5. As for Robbinsville, their record is now 10-3.

Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Wilson Prep has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 318.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Robbinsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 222.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
