Softball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Mills

Mills waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats with a sharp 8-1 victory. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Kalia Woo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mills got a big performance out of Jazzy Maske, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Kwan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Mills' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Mills didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 victory against Notre Dame on the 30th. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they have also already played their next match, an 11-0 win against Presentation on the 30th.
