Baseball Recap: Escondido Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Escondido barely beat Ramona the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Bulldogs 10-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Cougars have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ronnie Witt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Makaih Gonzalez was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryder Taylor was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Escondido pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Ramona, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-7.

Escondido will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
