Baseball Recap: Midland Park Victorious

Midland Park won the last time they faced Pompton Lakes and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Connor Detrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Anthony Carrea was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Midland Park's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Pompton Lakes, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Midland Park and Pompton Lakes will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Panthers are set to square off against their familiar foe Park Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pompton Lakes will challenge rival Manchester Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
