Softball Game Preview: Winfield Generals vs. Lincoln County Panthers

The Winfield Generals will face off against the Lincoln County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln County will be up against a hot Winfield team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. Winfield never let Spring Valley get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Wednesday.

Spring Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Madeline Carroll, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

Meanwhile, Lincoln County made easy work of Point Pleasant on Thursday and carried off a 15-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Arien Cooper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Cooper was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Lincoln County got a massive performance out of Abbie Jeffers, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Abby Bowen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Lincoln County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
