Baseball Game Preview: Hudsonville Eagles vs. Caledonia Fighting Scots

Hudsonville is 8-2 against Caledonia since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Fighting Scots at 4:30 p.m. Hudsonville will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Hudsonville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Coopersville.

Jack VanRegenmorter looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Groenink, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 contests.

Meanwhile, Caledonia hadn't done well against Grand Haven recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Buccaneers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Fighting Scots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Hudsonville pushed their record up to 28-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Caledonia, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16-4.

Hudsonville skirted past Caledonia 3-2 when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Fighting Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
