Volleyball Recap: Freeport Makes It 14 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Freeport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Destin Sharks 3-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since August 30th.

Freeport had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 27-29, 25-16, 25-22, 15-8.

Emily Doi paced Freeport's offense, picking up 22 kills. Doi got some help from Maddy Smith and her 49 assists. Doi was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Freeport pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Destin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Freeport will welcome Walton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Destin, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against South Walton on the 27th.
