Basketball Game Preview: Washington County Golden Hawks vs. Banks County Leopards

The Washington County Golden Hawks will square off against the Banks County Leopards on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Washington County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brantley County by a score of 60-48. Given the Golden Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Herons are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington County found their leader in sophomore Jade Kitchens, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kitchens has scored at least a third of Washington County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aeria Hagans, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Banks County entered their tilt with Oglethorpe County on Tuesday with 18 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 19. They breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 71-36. The Leopards have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Washington County's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Banks County, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.
