Football Recap: Kanab Cowboys vs. San Juan Broncos
After flying high against North Sevier last Friday, Kanab came back down to earth. The Cowboys lost to the San Juan Broncos on the road by a 46-32 margin on Friday. The Cowboys lost against the Broncos in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-14 score last time.
Kanab didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Grady Anderson and Kyle Brown.
Jagger Nieves went supernova For San Juan., rushing for 351 yards and five TDs while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Those 351 rushing yards gave Nieves a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Yeomans, who rushed for 54 yards and one score on only seven carries.
Having lost for the first time this season, Kanab fell to 2-1. As for San Juan, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Looking ahead, Kanab will look to defend their home field on Friday against Millard at 7:00 p.m. As for San Juan, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Summit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
