Softball Game Preview: Hopatcong Chiefs vs. Belleville Buccaneers

The Hopatcong Chiefs will take on the Belleville Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Hopatcong is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Kittatinny Regional, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Belleville sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Millburn on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Millers: they've now won three in a row.

Belleville's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Hopatcong, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-9.

Hopatcong took their victory against Belleville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Chiefs repeat their success, or do the Buccaneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
