Softball Recap: Woodside Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Woodside's offense. They came up short against the San Mateo Bearcats on Thursday, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in March.

Woodside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Ong, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base marked the first that Ong has snagged this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Woodside and nudges their season record down to 11-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-4 Capuchino (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71% over those games). As for San Mateo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodside will challenge rival Aragon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, San Mateo is set to square off against their familiar foe Capuchino at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
