Softball Recap: JW North Starts Season with Win on the Road

JW North had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Serrano Diamondbacks on Monday as the JW North Huskies made off with a 10-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Diamondbacks: they've now won five in a row.

Natalie Munoz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she also gave up only six walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angelina Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lily Hiraoka, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

JW North has already played their next matchup, a 17-1 win against Redlands on the 17th. As for Serrano, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-1 loss against Vista Murrieta on the 17th.
