Softball Game Preview: Parowan Rams vs. Altamont Longhorns

The Parowan Rams will take on the Altamont Longhorns at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Parowan has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Parowan came up short against Kanab on Friday, falling 19-9.

Meanwhile, Altamont waltzed into their game on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thunderbirds a 19-0 shutout. The Longhorns' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kiley Crapo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Lacie Long was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Hadley Mecham was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Altamont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Altamont's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Parowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
