Recap: Sherman Bearcats vs. Wakeland Wolverines

The Sherman Bearcats''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Wakeland on the road and fell 56-24. While losing is never fun, Sherman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 516th, while Wakeland is ranked 120th).

Sherman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Orr, who threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Mikah Hunt also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.

Brennan Myer was his usual excellent self, throwing for 364 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.8% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Myer is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. Ryder Treadway also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.

Sherman's loss was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Reedy and 6-4 Frisco (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Wakeland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Sherman will be playing at home against Liberty on Friday. As for Wakeland, they will head out on the road to face off against Frisco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Frisco comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
