Softball Game Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Spring Creek Spartans

For the second straight game, Dayton will face off against Spring Creek. Dayton will host Spring Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dayton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Spring Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Dayton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Spring Creek 11-1. Considering the Dust Devils have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

LaSade Conti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Grace Grahmann and Bradlie Stevens did most of the damage at the plate: Grahmann scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Stevens scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Grahmann a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Macie Hannum, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Dayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only posted an OBP of .308.

Dayton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dayton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .468. However, it's not like Spring Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
