Softball Game Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Lafayette Rams

The West Point Pointers will venture away from home to square off against the Lafayette Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Point has three straight wins, Lafayette has 33 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Point will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Mathews, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pointers walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Blue Devils on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Lafayette fell victim to New Kent and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 20-0 to the Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for West Point, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

West Point took their victory against Lafayette in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Pointers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
