Preview: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. Dunellen Destroyers
Metuchen has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Dunellen Destroyers at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Metuchen put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Kennedy Memorial 57-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Metuchen has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Jason Woods, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Galligan, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Dunellen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to East Brunswick Vo-Tech for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-39 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Dunellen sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunellen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamael Davis, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hutchins, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Metuchen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Dunellen, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Metuchen hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57.3 points per game. It's a different story for Dunellen, though, as they've been averaging only 48.8 points per game. The only thing between Metuchen and another offensive beatdown is Dunellen. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Metuchen strolled past Dunellen in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 48-30. Will Metuchen repeat their success, or does Dunellen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
