Basketball Game Preview: McEwen Warriors vs. Wayne County Wildcats

Having just played yesterday, the McEwen Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Wayne County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McEwen comes in on eight and Wayne County on five.

If McEwen beats Wayne County with 57 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. McEwen beat McKenzie on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 57-56.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wayne County walked away with it. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 63-52 on Wednesday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Vikings are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McEwen better keep an eye on Cayman Camfield. He was instrumental in Wayne County's win, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Camfield is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sayler Skelton, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Wayne County was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 22-5 when they've passed the ball that well.

McEwen's record now sits at 20-9. As for Wayne County, their record now sits at 24-8.
