Basketball Game Preview: Sumner Spartans vs. Curtis Vikings

Sumner is 1-9 against Curtis since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sumner Spartans will host the Curtis Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Sumner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Curtis likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Sumner humbled South Kitsap with an 82-44 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Wolves are ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Curtis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 70-64 to Rogers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Sumner has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Curtis, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
