Volleyball Recap: Fort Zumwalt South Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jozie Spotanski and Gabbie Anderson

Fort Zumwalt South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Winfield Warriors. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 25-17.

Despite the defeat, Fort Zumwalt South had strong showings from Gabbie Anderson, who had 28 assists and four digs, and Jozie Spotanski, who had five digs and one assist. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 13.2 assists per game. Audrey Bushmeyer also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Leading Winfield to victory were Aubree Schott and Mallory West. Schott had 11 digs and three aces, while West had five digs and three aces. That's the most digs Schott has posted over her last nine matchups.

Fort Zumwalt South's loss dropped their record down to 3-10-2. As for Winfield, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7-1.

Fort Zumwalt South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Duchesne on the 1st. As for Winfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Orchard Farm on the 30th.
