Baseball Recap: Lower Cape May Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lower Cape May barely beat Atlantic County Institute of Tech the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers never let Atlantic County Institute of Tech get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Matt DiCave and Drew Kronemeyer were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, DiCave didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kronemeyer tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. DiCave has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, DiCave scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Kronemeyer scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty Heacock, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That hit marked the first that he got this season.

Lower Cape May's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Atlantic County Institute of Tech, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Lower Cape May will host Vineland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Atlantic County Institute of Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against Hammonton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
