Basketball Recap: Rappahannock Takes a Loss

Rappahannock lost against Essex back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rappahannock Raiders lost 46-22 to the Essex Trojans. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-6.

Morgan Self was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds for Essex. Self also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Essex is 4-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Amani Brown was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Rappahannock has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Essex, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rappahannock will head out to face off against Mathews at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rappahannock is facing Mathews at the right time seeing as Mathews is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Essex, they will head out on the road to square off against Northumberland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
