Recap: University City Centurions vs. San Marcos Knights

The San Marcos Knights typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday the University City Centurions proved too difficult a challenge. University City managed a 65-61 victory over San Marcos. The victory made it back-to-back wins for University City.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ben Gavani, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Gavani's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ival Momoh, who scored 14 points.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jalen Williams, who scored 20 points. The match was Williams' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Richie Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 assists.

University City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

University City will take on Patrick Henry at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for San Marcos, they will take on Bishop's at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 897th, while San Marcos is ranked 226th).
