Baseball Game Preview: Ware Shoals Hornets vs. Emerald Vikings

The Ware Shoals Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Emerald Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ware Shoals is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Ninety Six hit Ware Shoals with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Ware Shoals saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Goode, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Emerald's offense. They fell 5-0 to Westside on Friday. The Vikings' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Eli Swancey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Ware Shoals' loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Emerald, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Ware Shoals beat Emerald 11-8 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
