Softball Recap: Corinth Holders Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Corinth Holders waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs with a sharp 17-0 victory. Considering the Pirates have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kelly McKnight made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ava Marks and Megan Poole did most of the damage at the plate: Marks scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Poole scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Marks has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mia Gwynn was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Corinth Holders was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive games.

Corinth Holders pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast Raleigh, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Corinth Holders beat the Bulldogs by a score of 15-0 later that day.
