Baseball Recap: Chatham Charter Has No Trouble Against South Stokes

Chatham Charter had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the South Stokes Sauras with a sharp 16-4 win.

Luke Johnson and Zach Cartrette were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Johnson tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Cartrette tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Johnson scored four runs while going 3-for-3, while Cartrette scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Chatham Charter let Jace Young and M. (Jax) Young run wild. Jace scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while M. (Jax) scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave Jace a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Rives, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Chatham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Stokes only posted an OBP of .417.

South Stokes now has a losing record of 1-2.

Chatham Charter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Southern Alamance on the 4th. As for South Stokes, they have also already played their next matchup, a 27-3 victory against South Davidson on the 3rd.
