If Rome Free Academy was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Oneida on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Black Knights fell just short of the New Hartford Spartans by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Black Knights' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Rome Free Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Howard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Alexa Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Rome Free Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for New Hartford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Coming up, Rome Free Academy will square off against Fayetteville-Manlius at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
