Football Recap: Yates Starts off Right with Win over Royal

Yates gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They breezed past the Royal Falcons to the tune of 35-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Lions just coasted through the last quarter.

Chris Brown was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 294 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 89 yards and one score. 85 of Brown's passing yards were hauled in by Joshua Jd Wallace, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Yates proved: they limited Royal to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Derrick Wolford for the heroic effort on defense: he. Yates' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

Yates' defense didn't let Emory Oliver., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Wolford was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
