Softball Recap: Ouachita Parish Has No Trouble Against Catholic - N.I.

While Ouachita Parish didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Catholic - N.I. Panthers 17-2 on Saturday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Malayah Vaughn and Journee Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Vaughn scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Williams scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Vaughn has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Lenard, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Ouachita Parish has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.8 runs. Catholic - N.I.'s defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Ouachita Parish Lions duke it out with Neville Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Catholic - N.I., they are taking a road trip to challenge Vermilion Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
