Softball Game Preview: Union Bears vs. Central Wise Warriors

For the first time this season, Union will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to take on the Central Wise Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Wise took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Union, who comes in off a win.

Union was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Virginia High last Tuesday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Bearcats.

Meanwhile, Central Wise came up short against Eastside on Tuesday and fell 4-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sophia Fleming was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

Central Wise's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Union, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Union came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Wise in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
