Softball Recap: Monroe Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Monroe won the last time they faced Meadowdale and things went their way on Friday too. The Bearcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mavericks. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Addy Bryant spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Scarlett Nagy was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Tenny Oylear was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Monroe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadowdale only posted a batting average of .217.

Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Meadowdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe will face off against Everett at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meadowdale, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Lake Washington at 1:00 p.m.
