Soccer Game Preview: Northampton vs. King & Queen Central

The Northampton Yellowjackets will square off against the King & Queen Central Royal Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northampton has six straight wins, King & Queen Central has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Northampton's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Windsor. The result was nothing new for Northampton, who have now won seven matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Windsor with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Luke Jones (3), Sebastian Mayorga (3), and Thomas Dix (2).

Meanwhile, King & Queen Central fell victim to King William and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. Beyker Gomez was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Northampton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five games. As for King & Queen Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Everything went Northampton's way against King & Queen Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Northampton made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royal Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
