Basketball Recap: Jakob Hayes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hubbard over Lakeview

Hubbard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 55-44 to the Lakeview Bulldogs. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Hubbard lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jakob Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Hayes has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Kyle Barr was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Even though they lost, Hubbard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Lakeview, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Hubbard and Beaver Local will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Beaver Local's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Lakeview, they will head out to square off against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
