Baseball Game Preview: Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans vs. White House-Heritage Patriots

The Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the White House-Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morristown-Hamblen West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Morristown-Hamblen West fell victim to Jefferson County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Patriots. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, White House-Heritage entered their tilt with East Robertson on Wednesday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 8-3. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly five runs.

Colton Moore looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Caleb Cayce and Nathan Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Cayce went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double, while Dixon scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Those two runs gave Dixon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Newton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

White House-Heritage pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
