Basketball Recap: Delmarva Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If Delmarva Christian was feeling good fresh off their 86-22 takedown of Salisbury Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Delmarva Christian Royals fell 64-51 to the Sts. Peter & Paul Sabres on Thursday. The Royals' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Delmarva Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Darius Liles went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Liles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Seth Mifflin also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Delmarva Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Garret Hemingway continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sts. Peter & Paul, putting up 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Rardin, who posted 14 points.

Delmarva Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Sts. Peter & Paul, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-7.

Delmarva Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-32 win against Red Lion Christian Academy on the 25th. Sts. Peter & Paul has also already played their next contest, a 77-50 victory against Salisbury on the 28th.
